Configuring both plug-ins will not really address the issue. The first one in the list will take precedence. (The search policy is not a replication/fail over strategy.)

Getting a bit off topic here, Is there a plan to make replication / failover part of the Directory Services configuration, or will it be up to the individual plugins to handle it? The current lack of any failover support in LDAPv3 makes me very uneasy about deploying 10.2. (We have a hacked lookupd providing LDAP support in 10.1 now.)
