Re: 64 bit addressing



I won't presume people aren't aware that these issues have been dealt with by other vendors but I thought this chapter
of SGI's MIPSpro 64-Bit Porting and Transition Guide might illustrate some points. SGI's Irix 6.x operating systems
support both 32 and 64-bit applications. I don't know what strategy Apple has or will adopt but having ported a lot
of code to both 64 and 32-bit systems, I found SGI's approach worked well.
