including sys/malloc.h produces errors?

Subject: including sys/malloc.h produces errors?

i have included sys/malloc.h for a static BSD library however now the
malloc.h is producing errors? is there a newer one that i am supposed
to update to?

malloc.h:280: error: parse error before "u_short"
malloc.h:286: error: parse error before '}' token

anyone else seen this? stuck in the mud...
