RE: autoconf failure--circular dependency

Thanks for the autoconf help! I tried the changes from Shantonu and that
worked. I also added the [] and that still worked (with Shantonu's changes
still in place). I will have to read autoconf's updated manual. I was
reading a much older book regarding autoconf.

I am now getting a new Makefile error when I run 'make clean':
Makefile.am: required file './depcomp' not found
make: *** [Makefile.in] Error 1

Any ideas?
