latency

from the man page :

The arguments are as follows:

-rt Set real time scheduling policy. Default policy is timeshare.

so does this change it until the next reboot ?
Or only as long as this command runs ?

I am having problems with itunes hickups while it runs in the background and
am trying to find a way to isolate the problem.

this is output from latency :
minimum latency(usecs) 4 0
maximum latency(usecs) 910 417
average latency(usecs) 11 0
exceeded threshold 0 0

What are normal values for maximum latency ?

my machine is a PBG4, 1 GB ram, 1Ghz .

It mostly happens on wake up from the screen saver, or dialing via the modem.
Sometimes also when just loading web pages.

I'd like to file a bug report, but I want to provide sufficient info.
I think stating that itunes has problems wont be very helpfull.

Any ideas on how to proceed ?

Dirk
