Re: Possible Airport Extreme driver issues in OS X 10.3.3

Unfortunately, I think most people on this list are in no way connected to Airport.

The *best* way to bring this issue to the attention of the correct Engineer is to file a bug via Apple's bug reporting system "Radar".

Very easy, very quick to do:

http://bugreporter.apple.com/

You'll need an ADC account, but those are free and very easy to set up as well. You probably already have one! ;-)

Once you file the radar, you might consider sending out the radar number (6 digits) to the list, so that other apple engineers on this list can see/comment-on what you've said.

Thanks.

Is the Darwin group responsible for supporting Airport and Airport Extreme in
OS X?

If it is, I was wondering if you were aware of an interesting problem that has
apparently developed with folks using Mac's with >1GB RAM.

For some reason, people (myself included) have experienced weird Airport
performance issues over time (between reboots - reboot seems to reset the
problem.) Issues include connection drop-outs and very slow transfer rates,
which seem to be mostly related to moving large amounts of data, or Airport
usage over extended periods (machines being put to sleep, then woken up.)

Folks have found that reducing the amount of RAM in the machine to 1GB or less
seems to have a marked effect on the problem (it all but goes away.) I've
recently pulled a 256MB DIMM out of my AlPB 15 reducing it down to 1GB to see
what I observe.

I specifically saw the low transfer rate problem. I came home last Friday,
connected up to my Airport Extreme Network w/ 70% signal. Web surfing was very
slow, and I was attempting to download the Xcode Tools segments. Finally, I
reboot my machine, and everything was lightening fast again. ???

Anyone "aware of"/"working" the issue?
