Trackpad psuedo-ADB devices

Hello,
I would like to get the trackpad in my powerbook into "absolute"
rather than relative mode. Synaptics' web site has documentation for how
the ADB trackpads work, but this one is not a real ADB device. I have
looked at the Darwin and Linux code for talking to the device and they
both do the same thing (to within 1 bit) to configure the device for tap,
drag-lock, and double-tap operations. Unfortunately these configuration
specs are not the ones discussed in the documentation
(http://www.synaptics.com/decaf/utilities/ACF126.pdf).

I was wondering if anyone knows where the documentation for these
devices is (if there is any). If not, any advice on how to figure this out
in a better manner than just flipping bits would be most appreciated. (And
I'm not so desperate as to hook up a logic analyzer to my PB at the
moment. :)

_David
