Enumerating disks and partitions?

Can someone give me a tip or point me to some sample code that I can use to get a list of the physical disks attached to an OS X system, and their partitions? I need to do this from a user space application.

I've been looking through the headers in IOKit/storage and it looks like these interfaces provide what I want, but I can't figure out how to put it all together.

I'm writing an application that operates on physical disks. Right now I'm implementing the UI that allows the user to select which disk they're going to work with. I want to make something like the list on the left hand side of the Disk Utility window, where there is a list of disks with a little triangle you can click to expose the list of partitions on the disk.

Extra credit if I can get the disk's ID info like the manufacturer and model.

Thanks for your help,

Mike
