kextcache and PlugIns

Hi,

How can I force an update to the extensions cache? kextcache -e always complains:
--> resulting mkext file would be too large;

I want to update my driver with a new version that contains a PlugIns-folder with sub-kexts.
All works fine if I delete the extensions.mkext / kextcache files and reboot, which I want to avoid.
Issuing kextunload on the old one and kextload on the new driver does not work. The kexts in the PlugIns folder are not loaded...
I could load them manually, though, but shouldn't kextcache -e work? And what does kextcache -k do?

Thanks

Bernd
