Thanks for the info.

In a previous driver, I used all sorts of BSD and Mach functions.
In this new project, I'm trying to be a bit more careful. Is there
any way to know what will be included in the stable kernel API?

For example, will the functions required for creating character
devices (cdevsw_{add,remove}, devfs_{make_node, remove} carry forward?
