Testing kernel driver in user space?

Hi,

Does anyone know whether there is anything resembling a
kernel environment wrapper for testing drivers in user
space? Basically, what I am looking for is something that
would allow me to test that my driver is working, without
risking crashing my computer too often and too early in
the development process.
