Hi, I am have to write an application so as to capture every image on the desktop and manipulate it. Same thing I achieved in windows by writing the filter driver and placing it above the graphics driver so that all calls to graphics driver are routed through my filter driver.
Now I want to know can same be achieved by writing the Kernel Extension above the actual Kernel Extension of graphics driver so that every call is routed through my kernel extension . Or better approach would be to capture the image at the application layer before being delivered to the compositor .
Thanks

I'm actually having the exact same problem. There's pretty much no documentation on this subject.
Apple docs talk about a CFPlugin for 2D graphics at
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/DeviceDrivers/Conceptual/IOKitFundamentals/Families_Ref/chapter_11_section_6.html

Maybe that can be of any use. Please let me know if you find something interesting.
