Reducing driver size

Hi,

I have created a driver for our SATA controller, and it has been working for some time. However the driver is 1MB which seems very large compared to the other drivers in /S/L/E. Can anyone suggest ways of optimizing code size of my kext - I'm using the default deployment build settings. Also does anyone have an idea why the driver is so big?

We are also looking to put the driver into the onboard flash. The good news is that kextcache -m flashDriver /build/MyDriver.kext reduces the size of the driver to 280k but unless that drops slightly in size, it won't fit in our onboard flash.
