I am writing a driver for PCI-ATA card. I know that i should be using
IOATA Family for the development. But can anyone tell me,can i use the
IOSCSIParallel Family for my driver development, If yes how close are
the IOATA and the IOSCSIParallel Families.
No. You should stick to the ATA family. Trying to make an ATA
controller or device look like a SCSI Parallel controller or device
is not supported.
Some developers have tried this and have run into problems
particularly when their customers try to see attached ATA devices
using System Profiler.
Is there any translation layer present in MAC OSX, between SCSI and
ATA families.
No, there isn't.
BTW, the engineers who support ATA and SCSI are more active on the
ata-scsi-dev mailing list. You'll have a better chance of getting
your questions answered there:
