Yeah, opterons are amazing. For OS-bypass polling operations (where a
user process does a PIO write to send a message to its peer, then
busywaits looking at a memory location, waiting for the controller to
DMA the response from his peer) we see a 1/2rtt latency of ~3.5us on
G5, and ~2.6us on opeteron. Same hardware, and I think you both
use the same AMD-8131 PCI-X bridge to the PCI-X slots.
