Re: kext problems

This is a public forum, and not an appropriate place to discuss matters that may be covered by non-disclosure agreements.

However, Tiger OS components were built with gcc-3.3, so I'd suggest using that when building AppleUSBAudio for PowerPC.

When the AppleUSBAudio kext is built using GCC 4.0 (with some tweaks), it loads and behaves correctly on a G4 running 10.4.3 F28. However, on a transition mac,
tmp root# kextload -t AppleUSBAudio.kext
kextload: extension AppleUSBAudio.kext appears to be valid
19AppleUSBAudioDevice is not compatible with its superclass, 13IOAudioDevice superclass changed?
kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension AppleUSBAudio.kext
load failed for extension AppleUSBAudio.kext

I thought that all projects were compiled and tested for both i386 and PPC. Did the sources diverge at some point? Or did I miss something?

Thanks,

David
