Re: 64-bit driver development on Intel Platforms

Not really, as the Kernel remains 32 Bit. You have to observe a few things when doing DMA, but other than that I know of no difference

Hi,

Is there any difference in doing driver development on
Intel platforms for 64-bit and 32-bit MAC OS X? I mean
in XCode settings, IOKit etc?

I had a small driver with assembly language routine(in
a separate file) to write to IO port and read some
register values

For eg...

pushl êx
popl êx

I converted them to
pushq %rax
popq %rax

It gave lot of compiler errors from IOLocks.h &
locks.h

A help on any settings (if that is the problem) is
greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Santhosh
