Hi

I have noticed around 20% CPU consumption during file transfers between 2 Macs (G4 10.4.11 and MacBook Pro 10.4.6) over the LAN (100 mbps). What could be the reason for this high CPU consumption?

I have developed a NKE driver, in which I attached interface filter and protocol handler. I see a high CPU consumption 35-40% while transferring packets over the LAN (100 mbps or gigabit) using 1500 mtu. What could be the reason and how can I improve it? However, if I use jumbo frame over gigabit the CPU consumption is around 20%.

Please suggest.
