Help with Serial Printer setup OS X 10.1

Hi all,

I have an Epson Stylus Color 800 printer and have been scouring the internet trying to find out how I might get this baby happening.

I tried to set it up with my other computer (PC running RH7.1 using printconf) but it doesn't print very nicely.
I then tried to setup CUPS/gimp-print on the RH box but it wouldn't install! Arghhh.... :-)

I'm really hoping that some kind person(s) might be able to help me get it happening with OS X 10.1.5.

I'm running a Beige G3.

The funny thing is that on my wife's powerbook, via a Parallel/USB adapter Print Center actually knows that the printer is there! It just says unsupported. I tried hacking a similar Epson driver but had no luck tricking the thing...

So - is it possible for me to get it happening with lpr or preferably CUPS with 10.1.x?
