Re: LPR Printing via IP not happening! --> Speeding it up & Quality?

Hi again,

Out of interest - in printconf-gui under Driver Options, on of the check boxes is "Rerender Postscript". What does this do?

My Linux Box will NO longer remember this option... so I keep getting Postscript garbage when I print from the Mac to the Linux Box. Every time I go into printconf-gui and change the option so that it rerenders postscript (which worked once before) it will no longer do it!

Well it's mysteriously working again :-/
Have no idea why. It still doesn't show up in the gui but anyway.

Now- is there some way of taking the printing out of first gear?
It is just soooo slow printing even a very simply page of text.

What suggestions do people have for this.

Also - do people find there are any loss of colour/page margins/fonts etc when printing from Mac OS X to a Linux box?
What's the best way to ensure the best quality and What-you-see-is-what-you-get printing?

(I'm using an Epson Stylus Color 800 on /dev/lp0)
Thanks.

with regards,
