Hi there,
I've set up a printer on my Linux Box [RH7.1] and can't seem to be able to print to it from Mac OS X 10.1.5.
I've chosen "LPR Printer via IP" and given it the ip address and chosen default queue with the generic driver.
What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Can you print to it from other machines on your network?

Well, the only machines on my little network are:
The Linux Box, and two Mac OS X computers.
So the answer is no.

Also, make sure that it really is the default print queue on your Linux box.

It's the only one defined. How do I make sure?

I've set up IP (LPR) printing from my OS X (Jaguar) box to a Solaris box on my home network with no problems. My destination printer is the default printer on the Solaris box and I chose the specific print driver (it was in Jag). I would stay away from "generics" as much as possible.

I've chosen Generic because I'm using a non-postscript printer (Epson Stylus Color 800) and so there is no print driver on Mac OS X for this (I'm using Mac OS X 10.1.5 - can't afford Jag yet).

MILD SUCCESS...
Okay - I just printed from TextEdit to the printer on the Linux machine!!
BUT - it's spitting out Postscript garbage.

e.g.,
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Title: (Untitled)
%%....

So how do I set it up so that everything is converted to the right format (for the print setup on the Linux Box)?
i.e., printing from Applications on the Linux Box (RH7.1) works fine...

Thanks very much in advance!
