RE: dual-booting between Darwin 6.6.1 and Win2K

I imaged my Windows partitions using Ghost and then installed Darwin.
Darwin deleted my other partitions.
After Darwin installed I Ghosted back my Windows partitions.
The boot loader detected both the Darwin & Windows partitions and boots both.
My only problem is that I have not yet been able to make Windows the default to boot.

I talked with some of the Gurus at the WWDC conference last week and they gave me some suggestions that I have yet to try.

Hope this helps.

Ross

Subject: dual-booting between Darwin 6.6.1 and Win2K

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here and just subscribed to the list today. I have a Dell
Inspirion 8100 notebook, 20 GB HD, 128MB RAM, Intel PIII. Successfully
downloaded and burned the .iso for Darwin 6.6.1 x86. CD booted and went
through install process, no problem. I installed Darwin on a 3 GB
partition, gave the bootloader it's own partition (8 MB?) according to
default options. I tooled around with Darwin a bit after restarting,
setting a root password, creating a user, etc., then reinstalled Windows
2000 on the remaining 16 GB partition.

Now Windows boots up like normal but I don't have the option to boot into
Darwin. I've read somewhere about copying the bootloader to my Windows
partition and editing the boot.ini file to include Darwin as an option.
Unfortunately I'm a total newbie to the *nix world and have some trepidation
about messing with system files on either partition.

Has anyone set up a dual-boot environment between Darwin and Win2K, or does
anyone know how to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Kevin Reinholz
