I recently downloaded OpenDarwin-20030212. According to the x86 hardware_______________________________________________
list at http://darwinunderground.com/hardware/,
the Asus A7V266 board will not work with Darwin/OpenDarwin. This is initally
true in most situations because the Asus board
uses a Promise ATA/100 controller for two of its IDE connectors (those two
also support RAID). Generally CD-ROM drives
are installed on the other 2 connectors, which are not controlled by the
controller and are dealt with like non-ATA/100 drives.
If the harddrive is switched from the Promise ATA/100 IDE conenctors to the
regular connectors, OpenDarwin will recognize
the drive and an install is possible.
Just wanted to let people know, since I almost gave up on the install
because of having the A7V266 listed in the "not working"
category.
