Re: installation woes

Sweet

The automount daemon is heavily patched in Darwin to remove the AFP and SMB automounting functionality (which depends on private frameworks). It's possible a bug crept in that broke NFS automounting as well.

Oh yeah, on Darwin 8, the Boot Device property is preferred because
it's impervious to device renumbering, but as you've noticed, it's
tied to a machine. To fix this:

1) Boot somehow to single user
2) mount -uw /
3) bless -mount / -setBoot

That should rewrite the com.apple.Boot.plist, and you shouldn't need
to use explicit rd= arguments ever again.

Whoo-hoo! That worked!!! Thank you! FWIW, it was NRTH@0/IDE0@F,1/ CHN0@0/@1:3

After throwing a 3c905 in there because the driver for the intel nic
hates my eeprom, I'm almost in business. I just need to figure out
how to get my automounts working (which work fine on MacOSX using
the same nicl commands to poke them..)..

Thank you very much!
