gdb for INTEL-darwin

Hi,

I still trying to build gdb for Darwin-Intel and not getting very far.

I have been following the instructions as best I can found at
http://www.opensource.apple.com/projects/documentation/howto/html/Building_D
arwin_HOWTO.html

I have downloaded from cvs, built and installed the following
dpkg
dpkg_scriptlib
buildtools
x86buildtools ( I dont know if I need this or not)

I have also downloaded the updates to the buildtools and dpkg_scriptools
scripts by Rob Braun.

I have also checkedout gdb (the whole purpose of the exercise)

As you stipulated Rob in your last reply I do require that the packages to
be visible to the scripts.

What I have done it mount the installer cd and replace /src/in as described
by your HOWTO with

the packages directory on the installer cd. It contains all the deb files.

I then run as root "darwin-buildpackage --dir ./osdev/gdb
./cdrom/whatever/packages ./tmp/out" after some activity
I them told the is a depency to binutils that cant be resolved. This is new.
Is it because the deb files are being read
and the dependancy is found amoungst them. I can find now reference to a
binutils deb

Anyway download binutils from cvs and guess what is in there "GDB" the very
thing I'm trying to build.

Is this a chicked and the egg or what.

Al I want is a debugger for some porting I like to do, this is getting way
to hard.

Ugghhh. Thats the story so far.

Regards

Martin
