Ok thanks for that,

Well after having cvs co binutils.
I then run as root "darwin-buildpackage --dir ./binutils
/where_the_debs_are ./put_it_here"
after a greate deal of activity
re-installing debs,
building list of files required files
running configure scripts

It falls over on Expect not being able to be cross-compiled.
Should I be overiding RC_ARCH and RC_CFLAGS as setup by Builder.pm to i386
only?

Appreciate you help. If there is anything "else" you can think I'm likely to
encounter please let me know, as the 24 hour lag between pearls of wisdom
just adds to the tedium :-)

I would otherwise be doing this on a ppc machine if I could but, the project
is not mainstream as such and resources are not being allocated.
