Problem with swap partition

Hi,

I have a strange problem with my swap partition (called "swap", mounted under /Volumes): The system always ignores it and offers a new "swap" partition (just a sub folder of /Volumes) - my original swap partition becomes "swap 1". How do I change that behaivor since my original swap partition seems to be useless if it's ignored.
