Does this mean Tomcat can run on Darwin ?

Nope.

I mean, if it can't without Apple
Java 2 which needs OS X, why mention it here ?

My guess is that it's open source software and has been specifically compiled and *tested* on MacOS X.

So while it's not Darwin software... it's open source... and put under the Darwin umbrella as far as the web site goes.

What am I missing ?

What we are all missing...

Java on Darwin!

:)
