Does this mean Tomcat can run on Darwin ?

Nope.

I mean, if it can't without Apple
Java 2 which needs OS X, why mention it here ?

My guess is that it's open source software and has been specifically compiled and *tested* on MacOS X.

Yes, it is. I run it on my iBook. While Java servlets aren't my thing, my boss feels differently. It's nice (for small values of nice) to be able to write and test them on MacOS X even though we deploy on Linux.

So while it's not Darwin software... it's open source... and put under the Darwin umbrella as far as the web site goes.

What am I missing ?

What we are all missing...

Java on Darwin!

::bites tongue:: :)

Here, have some coffee. It's better for you. :)
