I downloaded and installed Darwin and I was really_______________________________________________
dissapointed. If I want to make Darwin into a
robust Desktop OS, it is going to take a lot of work
tracking down and building a couple hundred packages.
I'm going to stick with yellowdog linux. sorry.
Maybe if I was doing development for OS X, it would
be really cool to have something like Darwin around.
Good Luck,
Rob.

Hi. Darwin is the core of OS X, that is, OS X is built on Darwin. Think of_______________________________________________
darwin as the enviorment when the smiley mac icon comes up on your screen at
startup. Then think of OS X as when the Aqua interface comes up and it says
"Welcome to Macintosh" and everything beyond that. One of the nice things
about Darwin is it is a UNIX operating system. These systems can be designed
to run on other platforms, or ported, so you can run Darwin on a variety of
computers. The password is probably a security measure to make sure people
agree to the license agreement from Apple. Make sure you read all the
information on opensource.apple.com before downloading. You should then be
able to figure it out.
