Remotely powered widgets

Hi,

I've been thinking. With a bit of thought and abstraction, it's possible that new versions of a widget have changes only made to the JavaScript files. That's exactly the case with me at the moment.

I was thinking that I could store the JavaScript files remotely, referencing them with an absolute URL in the widget HTML. This would mean that I could update the "engine" of the widget with bug fixes as and when I need to and people will see the fixes on reload.

So I'm in two minds with regards to the next version of my Ceefax Viewer widget. What do people think of this idea?

I'm still having problems with mouseclicks not registering after some widget updates. I was wondering if it was a problem with synchronicity of my XMLHttpRequest call and if anybody had experienced it before?

matt
