I spent way too much time on this and thought I could spare somebody
the pain. Here's are a couple gotchas I've discovered about the
<canvas> tag:
1. Gradient fills don't cast a shadow
2. Paths aren't as persistent as they're advertised to be.

demonstrates both bugs pretty well. I'll submit them to apple as
soon as I figure out where.
