font size in Dashboard bigger than in Safari

With the widget that I am working on, I have notcied that the default font size seems to be larger when looking at the widget in Dashboard than in Safari. Is there a way to get the font size in Dashboard to use the default font size from Safari? I'd prefer not to hard-code the font size to something like 12pt, because some people prefer a larger font, and some smaller.

Am I doing something wrong, or is the default font size in Dashboard really different / larger than in Safari?
