Re: not a valid widget

Thanks. I think that's it. I've sent a revised widget to my user. I'll let the list know when I hear back from her.

The problem might be the lowercase D in default.png. It should be Default.png.

Here's the top level dir and English.lproj of: ls -lR VelaClock.wdgt.

Does this tell you anything? I store many files in a Perforce depot and some of the files are read-only.

Can you go into your widget and do a ls -lR from the terminal and send the

Thanks,

I just got two bits of information from this user:
    1. "I'm using the Case-sensitive Journaled HFS+ file system. I've
assumed that's a completely immaterial factor for most applications,
though it is the only change I've made to my system. I am confident
that the remainder of my system is standard."
    2. "all the widgets [from apple.com] refuse to load, claiming the
widget is invalid when I try to run it from Finder. I'm happy it's a
consistent situation but a bit confused about why older widgets work
 but new one's do not."

Does anyone have any suggestions? (I've already asked her to
confirmed that Dock is specified in the "Open with:" section of the
 Get Info box.)

Ben, I tried your suggestion. She emailed me the widget and it ran
 fine on my machine.

 Hi Chuck,

Have you had her email you the widget? Perhaps for some reason her
machine is corrupting the download, which you might be able to see
by peeking inside the widget bundle.

 Hello,

I have a user that is getting the following message: "The file
'VelaClock.wdgt' is not a valid widget and you cannot install it"
when double clicking on the unzipped widget. Older versions of
 VelaClock work fine.

She says:
- the behavior is consistent across all machines (PowerMac G5,
Titanium Powerbook and 1.67 Mhz Aluminum Powerbook).
- has Mac OS X 10.4.7 and uses uses Safari for downloading (on all
machines).
- confirmed that the Dock was specified in the "Open with:" section
of the Get Info box.
- is able to successfully download and install other widgets from apple.com.

I can't reproduce the behavior and no other users have reported a
similar issue. She's re-downloaded the widget a number of times and
I even emailed her a zipped copy.

Does anyone know what I should suggest? Any ideas?

 Thanks,
 Chuck
