Re: Introduction and question

Hi and welcome Jason!

All shell access in Dashboard (as I understand it) is done through the widget.system() function. It's described on http://developer.apple.com/documentation/AppleApplications/Conceptual/Dashboard_ProgTopics/Articles/CommandLine.html Perhaps not a tutorial as such, but it contains some nice sample code.

It's pretty straight forward I guess. The asynchronous operation is the recommended way of doing things, and probably required for SSH.

Hi Everyone!

Just signed up for this list, I've done very little development in the past (Still learning) but I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me towards any kind of a tutorial for using unix shell commands from dashboard? I know it can be done, I've downloaded a terminal application for dashboard, but what I need to do, is to go through check is a service on my server is running, if it's not, ssh into my server, and issue a command to restart it.

If anyone has any tutorials, or many available, I love to read!

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
