A suggestion made at the Apple Leopard Preview Day last month was
to use a widget as a free teaser--expose part of the functionality
of your payware app, to entice people to try or buy the full app.
The presenter mentioned one astronomy/starchart program that uses
that approach.
Developing a widget that compliments your application is a great way
to add a unique, differentiating feature to an application—and to
promote an application as well.
I suggest that you take a feature that people use often and want
quick access to and turn it into a simple, gorgeous widget!
