It's possible to call AppleScripts from within widgets. I have done
so myself and some high-profile widgets have as well (e.g., the
Ma.gnolia widget). What are you trying to do with your AppleScripts
that you can't within the current framework?

It seems to me that widgets and AppleScript are made for each
other, like Peanut Butter and Jelly. Maybe a future version of
Dashcode would let me use AppleScript by default, please.
