Does Safari 2.x not support javascript xslt using XSLTProcessor? I
have been trying to make this work in Tiger but keep getting a
javascript error variable XSLTProcessor unknown.

Safari on Tiger doesn't include XSLTProcessor. To see if
XSLTProcessor is in new versions of Web Kit (and therefore, a future
Safari release), check out a Web Kit nightly at <http://www.webkit.org>.
