Thanks Reese. I should have asked sooner!
He has 10.5.8 (Intel). Would you happen to know if that is one of the OS X versions
affected? I am running that myself and I have no problems (but I do have a
different drive). That apart it does, however, fit all the known
facts. The iMac I burned on successfully is running 10.6.2.

Paul,
What OS is your customer using? This issue should be fixed in
SnowLeopard (10.6.2). It occurs when burning Little-Endian .WAV and .AIF
files through DiscRecording.
If your user is using Leopard they should be able to convert the audio
files using afconvert (afconvert -h for usage) to workaround this problem.
