Hmmm... Most Mac catalogs don't have much on tape mechanisms so look at server.

The APS DLT8000 lists for $3,699.95. It has an LDV Ultra2 interface and comes with Retrospect 5-pack. So you'd need an LVD adapter card.

At warehouse.com, Quantum's external model is $3,499 with a 10-pack of IV media and a cleaning tape. And HP's external is $3,999. The tapes are available from a variety of manufacturers, Sony, Fuji and HP. A III-style cartridge is around $37.

pcconnection.com has a drive for $3,579 and III-flavor media costs $33.95 each.
