Re: quality question



You should always re-size or crop to 720x480 BEFORE encoding, or your video will
be forcibly (and not always accurately) resized.

Also, every compression scheme introduces artifacts of some sort. Get a Hollywood
DVD and get real close to your TV set. They are everywhere.

The principal quality difference between Hollywood's encoders and ours is we have
to use bit-rates double or triple theirs to get the same quality... But we can
get it.

If you have six-figures to drop on a High-end MPEG encoder, go for it. DVD SP can
always use DVD compliant MPEG streams from other encoders besides the QT
Exporter.
