Re: UK-based aspect ratio hinting code question

hello to those who have authored commercial DVDs in the UK.

I notice that UK commercial DVDs have the same aspect ratio coding that is
broadcast by Channel 4 terrestrial:

When 16:9 material is mixed with 4:3, a code is included in the video stream
that tells my wide-screen TV to change aspect ratios to match.

The question is, how do I add this functionality to my region 2 discs?

Love,

Your encoder will flag it as 4/3 or 16/9 when you encode. Then your player will do with it whatever is setup in your player menu (Letterbox/pan&scan,etc.).

But be aware that the DVD Spec does not allow mixing the two formats in the same title set.

regards,
bill
