cleaner codec

i just started using cleaner on a serious basis today and noticed it has
an mpeg2 encoder (I'm new at this so bear with me) for encoding for
DVD's.

is this a good encoder? has anyone used it and if so does it compete
wellwith others or is the free one included with DSP better or about the
same?
