Look, I don't care what you do, or who your clients are. They may be bigger
than ours, or not. I don't use Quantel, I use AE. I don't use Creator, I use
DSP. The point however, is that as far as profits go, the higher end stuff
MAKES more money. For DVD, right now, it also does better work. There's just
no arguing the truth.

You can pay a million for a Quantel suite, or you can pay $10k for a Mac
set-up. The quantel suite will probably be profitable quicker, and for
longer. And do huge dollars. that's what I do, I make money, and if my
clients needed it, I'd buy Quantel, etc. So this old argument that we're
beating to death that a hardware encoder isn't as good, or isn't as
profitable, well, you're wrong. hardware encoders are better, and can make
you more money. No they're not necessary, but calling people who use
high-end tools to service high-end clients all kinds of names, is infantile
and shows you inexperience. buy the tools that your clients need you to use,
in order to service their needs. DSP is a great tool, and we use it. We love
it, and we love our software encoder. Other people, like Bill K., use
Creator as a profit center, to service higher end clients. And he'll use DSP
to service other clients. It's just a tool, not a religious icon. Use it,
don't worship it.
