Standards

The heated discussion of the past few days has been instructive if only to
illustrate that there does not appear to be a definitive international
standard for what an encoded DVD should conform to.

Does anybody know if such a standard exists. Should we not be discussing
the issue around a definition based on internationally accepted parameters?

I would be horrified if my clients had been reading this discussion, because
they could justifiably accuse us of not knowing what we were talking about
