Re: Burning DVD data disks

Using Toast, select "New DVD", and drag all your files and folders into the window. As long as the first thing you drag in isn't a VIDEO_TS folder, it will burn a data DVD. If you drag in a VIDEO_TS folder first, Toast will automatically format the disc as a Video DVD. This should work from OS9, with either DVD-r or DVD-rw (as long as your burner firmware supports DVD-rw). I don't know of any way to do this from within the OS. Apple's Disc Burner is a truly awful piece of software that should only be used for making coasters.

Wondering if someone can clarify....

We've burned several DVD projects using DVDSPro with no problems, but
haven't actually burned DVD-R's for data storage yet. There seem to be some
problems with the process...

Do you need to be using OSX to burn DVD-R discs with data?
Do you have to use Toast, or is it manageable from within the OS, as CD
burning is?
Can you only burn data onto DVD-RW , and not onto DVD-R?

When we put in a blank DVD-R, whether in Toast or not, we get an option to
initialize the disk, but it never works. Instead we usually end up getting
an error "-024......"

Any tips appreciated.
