We are also running Norton AV here and I had to install it as a prerequisite
to plugging my G5 into the network. I've had nothing but bad experiences
with it and it crashes enough to be a very ineffective AV solution. Policy
wise I imagine it's a requirement for a number of people, how effective it
may or may not be doesn't generally factor in as long as IA can check that
box on their sheet. From a security point of view I can actually point out a
number of policies that are actually less effective then other best
practices but then that's a whole other story.

I have also heard some bad things about VireX so I don't know what the best
answer is to the OSX AV requirement.
