[Fed-Talk] Re: Best PDA for Mac

you'll probably get as many opinions on this as there are people on the list, but personally, I'd suggest you stick with the Zaurus
In my opinion, that's the best PDA period.

mine still has the original ROM, and therefore, I can sync it using the AJZaurus USB driver:
http://www.lucid-cake.net/osx_zaurus_usb/index_en.html
and Qtopia Desktop for Mac:
ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qtopia/desktop/MacOSX/QtopiaDesktop-1.7.0-macosx.tar.gz

a great set of links for Zaurus to Mac work is:
http://osxzaurus.blogspot.com/
and
http://www.hgsc.bcm.tmc.edu/~kdurbin/zlinks.html

there are a couple of projects to sync the Mac OS built-in tools to the Z, but they require that you upgrade the ROM. If you have the upgraded ROM, the Qtopia solution will no longer work. it requires the 2.37 ROM. since that works for me, I've not been willing to upgrade the ROM and try the newer one.

I just picked up one of these for my fiance. maybe if I can find another I can afford, I'll do the upgraded ROM on it, and see how it works.

Hope this helps.

What is the best PDA to get for use with the Mac and syncing?

I would prefer something NOT Microsoft based... I do have a real
sweet Zauraus with pull out keyboard and the works. Runs Linux but
syncing with iSync is not an option.

I am in the market for a PDA that I can use.... preferably small and
stylish... not Microsoft based (although that is not set in stone if
the PDA is THAT GOOD :).

Would like web browsing abilities as well. This unit will be used to
demo the Mac abilities with several medical applications I have
written... wireless 11b also required .
