[Fed-Talk] Syslogd remote logging

Has anyone configured syslogd to log to a remote server?

I added the correct line in the syslog.conf (*.debug @remotehost) and also
made the following entry in
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.syslogd.plist:

Added <string>-c LOG_DEBUG</string> to the <array> holding the command to
execute.

However, it will only log to the remote machine after I HUP it. This
happens consistently after rebooting also. When the machine starts up, I
have to HUP the syslogd process to get it to log remotely.

Have I gone astray somewhere?

Thanks.
