The wisdom of running it that way, when Apple support tells you that
Admin is not supported on Intel Macs, is left to the judgement of the
reader.
Now it's moot anyway.
ps Funnily enough, now the linked kBase article gives the same
instructions. So there you have it: Apple says you can't do it,
some folks ignore that advice and figure out how to make it work, and
next Apple decides that, sho' 'nuff, you can do it after all.
I think confusion on the issue is understandable.

One noteworthy item is that ARD also allows you to use VNC.
ChickenOfTheVNC is now a free universal binary and is
opensource. I've been using it on the Intel macs but now that
ARD has a new version we can upgrade.
Why are you not just using ARD admin on your Intel Mac?
